Nutans Tea is made from Malaysian famous tropical herbs-Clinacanthus Nutans L. Clinacanthus nutans Lindau (also known as Snake plant) belongs to the Acanthaceae family.

Clinacanthus nutans Lindau have long been traditionally used in Southeast Asia as an anti-inflammatory drug for the treatment of insect and snake bites, herpes infection and allergic responses such as skin rashes.

Over the past 15 years, scientific researches on Clinacanthus leaf extracts have found that they possess analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties, antiviral activities against varicella-zoster virus and herpes simplex virus type-2. Two glycoglycerolipids in the extracts have been shown to exhibit antiviral activity. Other laboratory tests showed that the extracts significantly inhibited the interferon (IFN)-γ and tumour necrosis factor (TNF)-α induced HaCaT apoptosis, implying that cancer could be mitigated. The Clinacanthus extracts also had an antioxidant activity and protective effect against free radical-induced hemolysis.
